The Brindisi-Corfu Regatta began in 1986 as a local race in Brindisi. Three years later, boats from Corfu joined, starting a lasting partnership between the Adriatic and Ionian shores. Over time, it grew to include sailors from all over Puglia and the Ionian. In 1995, boats from Serbia and Montenegro participated, and in 1998, the current organizers took over, making the race even more popular.

Since 2003, the regatta has been part of the “Italian Long High-Sea Championship,” alongside famous Mediterranean races like the “Giraglia” and the “Middle Sea Race.” With over 100 boats, it is now one of the most important races in the Mediterranean and the top high-sea race in the Adriatic, in terms of number of participants and technical difficulties.
