A splendid day of sailing marked the successful conclusion of the 19th Punta Faro Cup, organized with the usual enthusiasm by Lignano Yacht Club. Bora winds of 12-15 knots and bright sunshine accompanied the regatta, which took place on a triangular course with fixed points.
For the first time, the Fabio Barison Memorial Trophy was awarded to the leading boat in the largest class, a special recognition that added further prestige to the competition and honored, with affection, someone who never missed our regattas.
Winners:
• Class Alfa: The First 40.7, Twenty One, by Sandro Cassandro (Yacht Club Lignano), triumphed with the young sailors of the Ilca YCLignano team onboard, followed by Dufour 40 Frida, helmed by Michele Albieri (CVAM).
• Class Bravo: The X37 White Sharx, by Giacomo Sangalli (CV Conegliano), won the Barison Trophy, followed by C32 by Alessandro Comuzzi and Italia Yacht 9.98 Alzavola, helmed by Paolo Donadon (YC Cûpa), which placed third.
• Class Charlie: Victory went to Elan 333 Aylin (Tiliaventum). The Rotarians aboard Swan 371 Cidrolin, helmed by Manfredo De Paolis, placed second, while Bavaria 44 Mara took third in Class Alfa.
Congratulations to all participants on an unforgettable day of sailing and sport!
President Stefano La Bella: "Now we look forward to welcoming you to the 35th Autumn Championship of the Lagoon, starting with the first race on Sunday, November 10, followed by the next two Sundays, and closing with a celebration on Saturday, November 30. As always, we offer the option of a 'Race' championship for both Open and ORC classes (with adjusted times based on the boats and measurement certificates) as well as a White Sails Cruising championship (real-time scoring), which is less demanding but no less interesting, to close the 2024 season together."
