On Saturday, November 30th, another exciting edition of the Autumn Championship of the Lagoon and Leisure Sailing, organized by the Yacht Club Lignano, came to a close. Over four days, a total of five races were held, culminating in a splendid final day with perfect conditions: sunshine, clear skies, and a north-northeast wind of 10 to 15 knots that made for enjoyable and competitive racing.
Thanks to the application of discards, the rankings were finalized, determining the winners across various classes and categories.
Winners by Class:
Autumn Leisure Sailing Championship: Birbone, Alzavola, Città di Fiume 2, Ariella.
ORC Group 1:
Regatta Division: Tasmania.
Cruiser Division: Nakhla.
ORC Group 2:
Cruiser Division: Take Five Jr. narrowly defeated Barramundi by just 0.5 points.
Regatta Division: C-32 maintained its lead over Matrix.
Open Class: Victories for Brava, Tasmania, Take Five Jr., C-32, and Athena.
Following the races, the awards ceremony celebrated the stars of the championship, followed by the traditional closing party. It was a convivial event featuring roasted wild boar, a prize-filled lottery, and lively entertainment provided by a dancer who added flair to the evening.
The Autumn Championship of the Lagoon marks a fitting end to a vibrant 2024 season. The year was filled with thrilling regattas, summer sailing courses for both young people and local schools, training sessions and races for competitive teams, and developmental opportunities for young instructors. All of this was made possible by the invaluable support of volunteers, club members, and sponsors of the Yacht Club Lignano. Without their dedication, none of this would have been possible!
Special thanks also go to local authorities who attended the awards ceremony and, in various capacities, continue to support the club’s activities.
Finally, heartfelt thanks to all participants and members of the Yacht Club Lignano family for being part of this incredible journey.
We look forward to welcoming you to the next season, where we’ll once again share our passion for sailing and the sea!
